When is a 3 page resume acceptable?
Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

It is difficult to prove but if you feel as if you have been discriminated against based on being part of a protected class or if you feel your rights under ERISA have been violated. you can consult with an attorney for free but beware there are time limits to file with the EEOC. Good luck!

While my first gut reaction is to be appalled, I have to ask a couple of qualifying questions. You said "dropped me" and "this layoff", leading me to ask was it a termination or a layoff? These are specific and legal terms to determine what next steps are available to you to pursue.
First, you need to immediately get to your local employment security office to file a claim. They will be able to determine, directly from the company, what the circumstances of your lack of employment stem from. Then you can make a more informed decision to engage an attorney or let the department handle your workplace action.
Secondly, it is time to do an immediate and realistic assessment of your finances; savings, credit and resellables. Turn off anything that isn't food, housing, clothing and job search related, i.e. Netflix, AMC, Planet Fitness, etc. You have to know how long you're able to go with what you have left.
Thirdly, you have to assess yourself. Take care of your mental wellness. You did not do this to yourself. Hopefully, you are being honest with yourself. Network with your friends and family. This is not a time for shame or silence. You can apply for Social Security, if you haven't already. It may reduce your overall benefits, but it is your money with which to take advantage. 65 is a hard age to start job hunting, I know very well. You have to think survival mode for the time being. I wish you well.☮️💙
Remember to sign up for Medicare. Depending on what state you live in, there may be an employment Commission. Find out what your rights are.
Sounds like a protected rights violation to me. EEOC complaint! You have a limited time frame to put in a complaint. You can go straight to their website to handle it if that's what you decide to do.
Sounds like they did not follow any fair process whatsoever. Where you employed for more than 2 years? Worth speaking with an employment lawyer and good luck!!
Sadly ageism is alive and well. Definite case for discrimination. How long have you been at the company?
Get an employment lawyer and sue their asses for a few years at the promoted level of pay!!
So you have medicare and hopefully a pension, social security, 401k, and other investments. Start your retirement income and get a PT job for something to do.
Go talk to this company. https://www.linkedin.com/company/dangoodmanea/posts/?feedView=all
You've missed out important information here. What was the reason for termination?
See a lawyer. Ageism is discrimination which is a separate and different from severance. Ageism falls under human rights where I live. Severance is for your time of service. You are likely entitled to severance, depending on your employment contract. Definitely see a lawyer. Good luck.
Chief
We don't have employment contracts in the US, and there's no requirement for severance.
Your age may have played a part, but it may be hard to prove. Getting a new job, you may have the same issue: age. If you can prove it was due to age and illegal, they deserve to be slapped down. A lawyer could tell you if you have a chance. On the other hand, do you want to work for a company that does that?

While I agree this is an awful act and seemingly age discrimination I suspect they didn’t make this move with blinders on. If it’s a larger company they for sure involved legal in the process. If it was a smaller company, they are not subject to the same rules of engagement. In today’s world if the president can go around firing people at will with seemingly no repercussions then everyone thinks they can do it. I would say whatever you do, try to take the emotion out of it. Understand your rights and under no circumstances should you sign any type of release with legal guidance.
You will see these sorts of questionable terminations more and more over the next decade, as people simply age out of the workforce. Honestly, negotiating a severance at the beginning and having it written into an employment contract is the only way to avoid this.
It might be worth talking to a lawyer (especially if you are in CA). If you were performing well and there has been no other incidents, you might have a case. Lawyers typically offer a free consultation to evaluate whether you have a case. So, might be worth talking to one (or two).
You need to go see an employment lawyer.
I'm not a legal professional so I have no insight on your situation. I just wanted to chime in an offer my condolences, that's a pretty rough thing to go through. Best of luck!
I will say with 100% confidence that it was precisely your age and salary. The bottom line is once you are put on this un-coveted covert “G14 Classified” list, you aren’t removed until you are gone. No lawsuit can save you from this loophole.
Same thing happened to me
This is likely to be a thing now. One of the negatives of all the rollbacks in protections. Even if you sued, it's likely they'd win in court, citing the current climate of change. I'd still talk to a lawyer and hunt for severance.
Probably had to do with pay and age. They could get a someone younger for cheaper.
