Tata Consultancy I am a manager in Capgemini... have an offer frm TCS. the designation being offered is Assistant Consultant.. 9.8 years experience( 5 yrs with Cap) Even though I am getting a package of 25Lakhs.. it seems like a demotion in designation.. Cg has offered to match upto 23.5 lakhs.. Is it worth moving to TCS on this grade? My primary reason for moving out of Cg is i m bored of beauocracy and WLB at current project. Is it a good idea to still switch with the counter offer from Cg Capgemini Tata Consu

The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

6/23 check in! What are you up to today?

Dallas will get you the most for the money but SD is by far the best place to live out of those imo
The Bay! 👌 San Diego is cool for surfers and retirees. You’ll get bored in a few and would be looking to move.
San Diego by 1000. The bay is terrible. Housing is absurd and everyone is living in a bubble
SD > Dallas > Purgatory > Hell > SF
210k San Diego.
San Diego but not because of the money :P
SO (25) & I (27) are getting married next year, are intimately familiar with all 3 cities, and don’t want kids for at least 5 years.
Would love to put a down payment on a home within next 3 years though.
Very much agree with D1, went to school in SD, now reside in LA. Wouldn't give up the weather and Pacific coast for cost of living. How much is that worth to you?
San Diego.
275 HH is poor in Bay area.
Source - fiance an I make 360 combined.
@G1 - I think you’re illustrating the most important consideration—If you’re comfortable/happy with where you are, then why move?
My general thoughts are that the 275k could increase more rapidly in the Bay Area than in SD/Dallas, or even DMV due to so many competitive job opportunities.
Now it’s really about the trade-offs for the rest of our 20s: comfort of owning a home or the lure of potential uptick in earnings trajectory?
SD great lifestyle and still good salary

San Diego
If you're trying to max out career growth, then SF. Go to SF, job hop to make more $, save up (though you'll probably not be able to afford a house in SF), then move to Dallas in 5+ years when you're ready to settle down. By then, your savings (plus high base salary baseline) will be beyond what you could have achieved by moving to Dallas now.
Base salary is not why anyone works in the Bay Area
First, many tech companies have a one-year cliff for your first set of shares to vest, but after that, subsequent vest dates occur quarterly, monthly, or even biweekly with each paycheck. Only life sciences companies make you wait in one year increments between each vest date, but few life sciences companies pay equity as a significant portion of total comp. My wife works for Genentech, and she makes similar total comp as me, but her equity is <5% of her TC while mine is 30%.
Second, as soon as your shares vest, you pay regular income tax rates on the value of those shares. Long vs short term cap gains tax only comes into play if you choose the (inadvisable) path of holding onto those shares to sell later.
