Considering boomeranging back to B4. It’s been a year and I miss it - the challenges, the camaraderie, the fast paced environment. Please tell me I’m nuts and shouldn’t do it.

I left when I was a senior and worked in industry for a few years as a manager. I left for the reasons you did: better pay, slower pace. I went back because I missed the challenges, the variety, the growth. I stayed in public for 10 years that time. I loved it. Then I wanted back out and left for industry again. I’ve been out for 4 years now and am still happy. I don’t regret leaving the first time. I don’t regret going back or leaving again.

You know what is in your heart. Follow your path.

All of this basically makes it sound like your job used to be your entire identity and now you have a void to fill. Try filling the void before going back to an environment where your job filled your cup.

No need to rationalize, OP. I might be projecting—this was a hard lesson that I had to learn in consulting and I said things similar to what you’re saying. It’s not meant to be attacking.

If you get bored - then you are set for public accounting and should come back. Not sure which firm you were with but some folks come back to PA to a different firm so they expand their network..

DM me for a referral to GT. People are nicer, clients are mostly just as complex.

What’s your longer term plan? You said your kids are teens. Would you want to be a partner/managing director? Or just come back for a few years and then leave again? What are you and your spouse’s plans for when the kids graduate high school and/or go to college? Those answers might influence whether it makes sense to work hard and save more now, or to coast and spend more time with family, etc.

Exp. 13.5 Yrs
Industry Segment : Supply Chain Operations and Project Management
Graduation : B.E. Civil and MBA in International Business
What can be the expected CTC in India considering my exp. and academics?
If I wish to switch to other Segment, what is the way to switch to other high paying jobs?

Think the people in this industry need to take time to volunteer or engage with some tougher parts of town and understand that by virtue of even having investment accounts, that they’re more financially safe than at least 50% of America. When you say your salary jumped __x, how is that exactly calculated?

Mine was $16k (minimum wage before joining corporate) > $40k (contractor total before getting laid off) > $150k (current FT)?

Is that a 260% jump or 2.6x from $16k to $40k?
And a 375% jump or 3.75x from $40k to $150k?

Or do I calculate it by hourly rate?
