Currently at a portco working directly with C suite. Comp + equity is great, and I have powerful people pulling for me at this company. Work is somewhat intellectually challenging, and the people part of working with and managing work output of type B people here is challenging.

I've had just 2 years in consulting and 2 years here. I'm worried that I'm not challenging myself to hit my intellectual and professional potential by working in this environment. Is this valid?

No. Lots of building a career is just riding the wave. On top of that… you’re 4 yeas out of ~40, from the sounds of it? So much of working is just jumping from one monkey bar to the next. But, it sounds like you are on a really good path.

My only advice would be to do a masters degree part time (especially if you can get work to chip in or cover the whole thing)

dude you’re living the dream. this is the peak. now just find the opportunity to get a bigger piece both financially and title wise. high achieving people sometimes dont know that the view they have on this hike is IT. for me, i sometimes click back into the mode where I feel like theres a next or “thing” im chasing. Just lock in and grind. Make sure you are next up to move up in that place and are tight with your PE owners.

Interesting how people desire different things… I had no desire to be challenged. I just want to coast. But to each their own!

Lets swap jobs, im challenged all the time and tired of it.

No. Learning how to get value out of B players makes your skills more valuable in the long term…unless you are a career IB or MBB

Hi!

I recently did a job interview and I made it clear to the HR my expectation salary is 60k a year, non negotiable.
Today I got the job offer and they are offering me 54k. My current company is making me 50k with tons of benefits which is why I am asking for 60k.

Should I accept the offer or renegotiate?
