You are not crazy, but this doesn't have to be a deal breaker. Maybe he has higher ambitions outside of making money/his job. What does he want to accomplish in life? Does he want to travel or see anything new? Any experiences he'd like to have like becoming a father or a husband? It sounds like you like him so maybe you just need to ask more pointed questions about his life.
You’re not crazy and you can choose whatever you want to be your boundaries and deal breakers. If it bothers you he doesn’t work now, it will when you’re resentful from working hard at your job and you didn’t sign up to be a primary breadwinner. I didn’t hear a mention about how he would be as a home maker and that dynamic of one spouse working and the other just chilling can be bad.
Also…prenup prenup prenup if you ever decide to marry. Despite having family money he can take half your earnings in a divorce from aforementioned resentment build up
What I'm learning in dating is to not fall in love with potential... do you think this would be something you could live with for the rest of your life? That's something to contemplate
I could definitely see how this is concerning. I’d certainly dig a little more into how he plans to provide or contribute to his own family in the future.
“Land owner” is far too vague lol
There are also other factors to consider here like how long you two have been dating, how old he is, his prior work experience, if he has investments, etc.,
The only advice I can give without knowing more is don’t be afraid to ask questions. It’s much better to be respectfully direct in seeking clarification for understanding on a significant issue like this. You’ve worked hard and money isn’t everything, but consistent reliable stability is. Anything can happen, so i agree that you should def protect your assets should it move to marriage. Just try not to allow something that your passionate about be pushed aside, b/c it could definitely turn into resentment later down the line.
I don't think you're crazy everyone has their own preferences. I guess my question would be what does he aspire to do with this land? Does he want to build investment properties on it? Start a farm? If he has real plans this he could have a lucrative career I would talk to him about it
