No you don't- you'll end up eating subway for every meal like me in order to save the $$$
Used to work for ACN, so I've lived both sides and I'd prefer to keep the money in my pocket than spend 1.5 hrs per week submitting a bazillion pieces of paper.
If someone at EY is submitting all their receipts, they are ignorant to the process and doing it wrong.
We don't have to submit receipts for anything, except for cash charges over $25 and hotel folios. Managers and below get an allowance of $65 per day ($15 breakfast and $50 dinner), and dinner expense can be averaged. SMs get an allowance of $90 per day ($15 breakfast and $75 dinner). "Suggestion" for PPEDs is $15 breakfast and $100 per person in their party for dinner. If you get a per diem, everyone eats cheap, pockets the cash, and hides in hotel rooms. Getting an allowance that you lose if you don't spend influences teams to go out, explore the food scenes in engagement cities, and bond. Of course you can still do your own thing with an allowance; you don't need to do dinner with the team. The extra cash from a per diem is nice, but I wouldn't make the trade. Going to great restaurants every night is one of the few benefits of traveling.
Plus, having to split checks every time is embarrassing. Not necessary with an allowance.
Receipts? How archaic.
Don't u guys get like 75 bucks a day? Minus the lunch
@SC1 - Only the US gets to push in <20$ line items without paper.
We get true per diem
Really? Maybe grass is greener on the sides side. I'd prefer per diem and pocket some of the cash!
Ive had both, I prefer per diem
^ you do for hotels which admittedly does get annoying
^yes and we just submit the amount assigned to the city multiplied by the number of days on the road (usually 4) per week .
And this is at all firms except for EY? I always see Accenture folks bragging about this too!
Idk if per diem is something to brag about?
To EY2's point. Having a per diem makes me opt for cheaper dinners, often without the team so that I can maximize my per diem take home. When I expensed actuals for meals at another firm, I enjoyed my travel considerably more.
But you should be using your corporate card, no?
@SC1 - Only US has Corp card integration (for now)
Woah, firms have per diem? How does that work? You just get X$$ for every day you are on the road or do you still submit expenses?
