I thought that too of some of the middle eastern and Caribbean island managers I worked with on a job once, but they turned out to be the most supportive and inquisitive. But I feel ya, sometimes you can sense if they'll be hostile toward you. But I don't give af at this point. In the end, they're still professionals working for Big 4 and probably won't dare say anything to you about it, even if it does bother them. Way I see it, ignorant people like that don't go very far working in our industry.

How much do you share with your coworkers? I never really share much of my personal life with coworkers, but my team shares a lot about themselves & their family. I usually ask about their lives, deflecting the question. Is this weird? Am I being too cautious?

So my VP at my previous company felt bad and refused to speak to me or attend my farewell after my resignation. I joined pwc last month, and absolutely hating it here. Each weekend has been working, 12-15 hours work day is minimum expectation. And there's extreme hierarchy, where even after you spend 24 hours working on something, the director decides he wants something completely different and you delete and restart. (Note that you request them to review and give their pov earlier on, but they never take the time out)

Have any of you taken "low bono" clients while working at a firm? I want to take on a low bono client or two but not sure who would get the money. This is a contract opportunity through a non profit so I'm assuming a 1099 will be issued. The per hour rate is significantly less than my billable rate.
