Head First PMP. Best book I’ve ever used for any studying. Passed the first time.
When you take the test, brain dump all formulas, scheduling info, and other frameworks you can remember onto the scratch paper so you don’t have to worry about remembering when the questions come.
Good luck! 👍🏼
Rita.
Buy an old version of the pmbok for $4 on eBay and skip the test.
Useless test for consulting. Though I found industry values the certification. I went through company sponsored classes.. ended up not taking test because it was so useless
I did the local PMI Saturday class. Best thing that helped me was flow charting the process and memorizing that matrix. Oh. And be on planet pmbok when you take the exam. Cuz some of it is NOT how a real life project works.
Head start is the best book hands down!
I took a 4 day bootcamp (KPMG paid for it and the materials included the PMBOK as well as access to practice exams). Took the exam a week later and passed the first time. Invaluable IMO.
I took an online course
Get yourself some pleated khakis and a belt-clip for your phone.
Take the Deloitte (free) PMP prep course
Do the week-long boot camp through Deloitte and take the test as soon as you can possibly schedule after. I took it 4 days after the class ended. The only studying I did was the testing database and the PMP Pocket Prep app
Project management academy 4 day boot camp. Took 1 practice exam, then The actual exam the day following course. Was easy pass
Take it before March 26. New update has 2x the material. Take a prep class. I used Project Management Academy and found it helpful
K1's approach is solid. I passed but I dry-read the PMBOK then went through 4-5 practice exams - not a good approach.
Don’t buy the PMBOK- it’s on the Deloitte website for free. Also, check DNet to see what else you can get Uncle D to pay for. You’d be surprised
I read Rita book first, then a bootcamp course, then passed the exam. Never read pmbok- that thing is the like a torture device, it's written so poorly (confusing, super bland).
PMBOK is useless. Test doesn’t use the same format or emphasize the same topics. Use Head First PMP or Rita Mulcahy. Get the 35 contact hours for $10 from Joseph Phillips PMP course on Udemy. Check out /r/pmp for practice test resources.
If you learn better in person community colleges are great resources.
You may want to wait till March 28. New updates
I finished the PMP course through Deloitte they pay for PMI membership and test and give you the head start book free
