Did you have a stroke while asking that?

Max it, but not more. Then invest additional on your own or through a broker. No reason to add more then max.

like

Speaking from experience...Max it nothing less than 13%... you will love yourself 8- 10 years down the line

like

Always max it

Doesn’t really matter what firm match is, just max it out. Tax advantages are the real win

minimum what the company will do match on and if you can do it make sure you max out government max really contribution

From my high school/college job at a county I have a 457(b) that has $5,215 in it with an ARR of 2.18%. It’s not much, but I am trying to figure out what the best thing to do with it is: leave if there until retirement, cash it out w/ no penalty but income tax, or roll it over into I assume an IRA. Any advice would be appreciated! (My current job has a pension and I pay extra into a different 457)

EY 🐠, your winter/summer breaks say “use 3 days of vacation or personal days”. So for winter break Dec 25-Jan 1, do you have off that entire break, but just have to use 3 days of PTO and charge the rest to Holiday? Am I reading this right? Also I see $60/month reimbursement for cell phones, does this mean if your phone bill ever goes over $60/month you’re on the hook for the difference?

Thirty different businesses in the UK are trialing the 4 day work week (32 hours) for 6 months, same pay and benefits just less work. It’s time for this shift to happen on a massive scale, lets push hard on this and we can all be enjoying 3 day weekends sooner than later everyone! Plenty of studies already show this is a win-win for employees and companies in terms of employee happiness and productivity

Responsible me is trying to look out for future me by maxing out my 401K and other retirement accounts. Lately, I've been having doubts about this approach. I don't have kids and never will. I am not interested in living too far past 70. Probably have enough in my retirement accounts now/soon to make it comfortably to 70. With 30+ years ahead of me till 65, do I cut back on maxing out? Sorry for the post holiday cheer....

70k base salary, have a 20k emergency fund living in NYC and I’m contributing 20% to Roth and 401k (50/50), basically living paycheck to paycheck after that. What are your thoughts/advice? Am I contributing too much?

Any women here in hetero relationships in which your male partner is less ambitious/sharklike/wealth focused than you, with lower earning potential? I’m torn between a lifetime of programming telling me I’m settling vs my belief in gender equality and understanding of the benefits of a partner who might put my career first. I’d love to hear how others experience this “non-traditional” dynamic and how it’s worked in marriage once you combine finances and work together toward shared life goals.

Struggling at work (first time manager, re-orgs, toxic culture) for the last 6 months. Experiencing secondary infertility and PCOS. Decided to hold out to utilize my mat benefits, hopefully to become pregnant after a few rounds of medications and lifestyle changes. No luck. Now work has gotten worse and I’m so burnt out. Been applying to jobs and think I’m close to an offer. Have started seeing a specialist but now scared of TTC with a potential new job offer. Has anyone been here before?
