I’m so happy this bowl exists 🥹🫶🏼
Hello Sharks, Hope all are doing good,
I am a associate java developer having knowledge and experience on Java, Spring mvc, Spring boot, Hibernate, MySQL. Recently I have joined another IT company. The surprising thing is they are providing training on Scala Programming language .I don't have any knowledge about Scala Programming, Slick and Postgresql. Is Scala developer having good future and demand. Can I better to try for other company to stay in java technology only. EY Infosys Cognizant

Senior consultant (IBMs first promo at 2yrs)
I'd guess you could probably get 110-120k - but highly dependant on the specific skills & clearance you bring and IBMs current need for them.
Also on - brand / pay growth / bonus / upward mobility / fringe perks / etc. - would all be a downgrade.
So negotiate a big increase to base upfront
Take a look at IBMs 5 yr stock price then think about Ds 5 yrs of growth.
Also take into account you'd be working for an old fashion F100 corporation --> not a consulting firm.
D is better placement for big tech.
IBM would only be better if you're on the dev or product side of the company (e.g. software engineer, product manager) not the consulting side of IBM.
All this is colored by me spending 5yrs at IBM - that were good not great - so definately do more research.
Bc IMO Unless you're getting a great salary increase / promotion / hate the D culture / moving into a niche AI / Analytics group at IBM - can't think of where they'd win out over D.
Update on this, had a screening with the recruiter, all went well. Asked for 135k (40k increase from current base), recruiter said it was totally doable and well within range. Makes the process more tempting so I am moving along for now.
Things I’m considering, currently working from home where as this role would be full time in office. Commute would not be horrible though. Also considering Ds bonus and raise come out in late May so I would like to see that first before deciding.
