Deloitte - I am an ex-Deloitte and wanted to go back to Deloitte. I had a SM role interview for Data & Analytics group. First interview went very well with a lead partner in FS. Second one also went well and he wants me to meet 1 other partner. Next day i got an email from the recruiter that my skill set is not aligned with current needs. I asked for more info but didn't get a proper answer. Deloitte

I haven't personally had this experience, but I think that you can ask for a meeting with the interviewers to get feedback for future interviews. I lot of the time, the answer they give isn't exactly true and they can't, more like won't, say that they just decided to go with the other person for whatever reason.

I’m not senior enough to give a strong opinion on the matter, but if I had to guess I’d say you probably overlap in certain domains that might make your skillset less in demand. At this point no one can give you a specific reason other than the people who interviewed you….

#1 most insecure as well eh
Cam you ask for a meeting with your interviewers?
I would suggest to reach out to your interviewers via LinkedIn or if you have their emails.
Of sure where you are a VP or why size but couple things from a general consulting perspective
1. Could have felt you are too senior. Do you want to do the 80 hr grind again?
2. Maybe some one knew you from before and said some bad internally or there were some documentation they reviewed.
3. Tenure, salary, etc things we don't know only you do
4. Lots of recession talks so some places may have gotten stricter hiring requirements or started freezing
Probably that one more partner didn't like you and said no maybe even someone that knew you from before.

What more info do you need? They spoke to you and determined your skillset is not what they are seeking currently. Just because they liked you, doesn’t change the role needs. This also doesn’t mean you can’t try for other roles, there’s many many different teams and groups hiring with different recruiters and interviewers.
Thanks. They could have done it in the first interview or looking at my resume. It is ok i have moved on.
