I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

Role can be synonymous with Lead Administrative Assistant in some orgs. Be careful.
Thank you! Yes, I am aware of it and will keep my eyes on any potential red flags during the interview process
If you do a cos role, only do it for a set time (2 years max) and make it clear that you want X type of role afterwards (p&l responsibility, etc). In my career I have seen people do this role successfully and move on to be great leaders. But I have seen plenty do the role for too long or just move to a lateral and stay there for years because they are seen as the executive’s person, not their own person.
If it’s a very small company, I might try to get a different title like President, coo or svp of strategy so you present better in case you need to exit.
I am seeing it as a no more than 2 year role, especially given that the small company has just been taken over by a PE backed firm. The organization is looking for help with integration and figuring out international growth strategy for their division post integration. The CEO is being very careful about not being sucked into a bigger (1000+ employee) organization.
Having said that, it’s a high risk position- what if the CEO of the integrated organization sees no need for another CEO for a division, which may mean, no need for a COO and a COS for COO......I am trying to weigh in the risk vs benefit of experience.
My team lead (biz ops / strategic finance team) is COS for CEO at my company so I can provide some insight. What do you wanna know?
I understand job description varies from leading strategic initiatives, make sure the office space is available to meet the needs of fast growing organization, put down fires for the C-level executive, work on keeping organizational culture.
Can you get me insights on what are the signs to watch out before the work turns out to be ‘lead admin’ role?
