They are putting conditions like give your full commitment to join then only we'll release offer letter. I am currently looking for work life balance with growth. I came into UX a few years ago in my mid 40’s so far, so good I’ve established myself as a leader at my company and feel appreciated and respected. Mind you, I work for a large Fortune 100 company with a robust design org and plenty of Principles in their 50’s & 60’s. I consider myself lucky.
I've heard lots of stories from folks that have been in the industry having micro-aggressions from newer folks. Folks think they know what UX is because they've taken a bootcamp, have taken some online courses, or think they've done enough research into the field.
UX is for thought leadership and a bunch of folks joining in just want to be heard and try to control outcomes in their favor. Lack of emotional intelligence is often seen, and they lack the ability to accept feedback or criticism. A lot of folks are just getting into UX because they want more money, and ignoring everything else.
Oh no! I am in my mid forties trying to find my first UX design role. I currently work as a design manager in home textiles. It is proving quite difficult to get that first full-time role.
