Yeah, CCOs usually survive layoffs.
They didn’t get hired on merit so why would they be let go for it
Lol
For the most part, yes. Obviously there’s some variability in our own individual definitions of a “personality hire” but if it’s to mean you’re well liked but do kinda mediocre work, in our industry that does mean something in the long run, for better or worse. There’s a LOT of smoke and mirrors with certain departments - I’d argue most account team hires are essentially a form of personality hire. Though those with “hard” skills (not hard as in difficult but as in concrete, non-abstract. the opposite of “soft” skills) like internal designers, copywriters, art directors and editors have some extra protection because their work and profit gain to the company can be measured much clearer.

Had to Google what a personality hire is (I'm old). Gross. I would hope they would be the first to go as the description doesn't exactly scream "hard worker". That said, in client facing roles where personality matters, like acct mgmt, it might help a little. But anyone can get the axe at any time (except for full on nepo babies)
So you're saying they survive climate change?

100% have experienced and seen this.
Yes
Personality hire. Is that the same as “Ideation officer”?
Exactly.
Most of marketing is personality and communication. Reflect.
