Every GSD I've talked to has asked for work samples. So, do you need it? No. Do you need it to get a job at a good place? I'd say so. They can be really diverse for strategists. But you gotta come across as curious, good at synthesizing, and a good storyteller.
I’m learning this now. Looking to transition into an events/experiential strategy role and it looks like I need to have one just to prove I can think strategically and brainstorm Big Ideas.
I have work samples to share and I would expect someone I interview to be able to share their work. I don’t care if it’s actually on a site though and I prefer to not put mine on a site as I pick specific examples depending on what I am interviewing for.
Same here! That makes me feel better
Asking for my general knowledge but also because I got an interview at an agency where it seems like a lot of strategists do have them— wasn’t sure if it was just sites leftover from ad school or if it’s something I should be doing. Should I make one even though I got an interview?
I keep being asked for a website/ portfolio and just finally finished my website cover page and finishing the projects section. It’s easier for a recruiter or hiring manager to just browse through stuff in one place plus I have some fun side projects that add to my strategy personality
