This is one of my guilty pleasures. When I stopped traveling as much for work I still went solo to have lunch or dinner and a drink at the bar. It’s just so peaceful yet you’re still out in the world. 🤷🏻♀️
^this. I love going and bringing my book and just chilling
Have kids. Then nothing will seem as appealing as a meal alone.
Exactly!
I always just sit at the bar and bring a book with me.
Yep. No shame.
Rising Star
I usually only eat at the bar table near a TV if i eat alone. Makes it feel a little better
I'm never bored at the bar, and I do it all the time at home. It's one of my favorite things to do.
Bartenders typically have good personalities or are attractive. Other patrons can often be engaging or fun to listen to.
On bad days, just staring at a wall of booze can make things a bit better than they otherwise would be.
I like to work out of a breakfast spot some mornings. Have a nice breakfast, reply to a few emails.
Netflix/YouTube plus noise cancellation does wonders. When I do get bored occasionally, I just call a friend/family during lunch and take a nap. If you nap, just make sure you have alarms to not miss flights like I did. Having occasional conversations with people around you if at a bar doesn’t hurt either. If you can’t find a way to make being alone while traveling if not interesting, at least bearable, it would be a challenge to last in consulting.
I think they mean at an airport, which is also 🤯
Nah never. I always find it very peaceful.
No and no. I just want to try new things I can't get at home.
Nope.
Yes.
Pro
I hate eating alone. But I also grew up with sit-down dinners every night even when both parents worked. E.g. "how was your day at school today?" 😬 So that aspect of travel kills me.
