Yeah happens all the time, moreso at McK and BCG
I have a physics PhD, BCG hired me directly out of grad school with no relevant experience at post MBA equivalent. We do it literally dozens of times every year across North America (not sure the worldwide number and it works a bit differently in some other systems). Have been doing it for decades. Some of our most successful partners came through this route.
We have a group that hires a lot of STEM phds.
Yep, our PhDs come in with a post-MBA position. Not sure if their salary is the same as an MBA but title is. The PhD is especially helpful in industries/work streams that require SME/deep scientific knowledge (like life science).
All our advance degree hires (PhD, JD, MD) come in at the same level as MBA hires with some additional training in the beginning much like McK
MBB pay is the same for everyone at the same tenure, so yes.
Can confirm. BCG hires PHDs. Pay is same as MBA.
Know someone that went to McK post PhD in Chemistry and is now a Engagement Manager
We don’t hire fresh PhDs post-MBA roles which Consultant at ZS for the exact same reason. But we hire them. And, they prove to bring a lot of value and skills.
We had PhDs in my starting consultant class as well
Yes, and phds have a 2 week training called mini MBA that probably teaches the same as the 2year program
Do BCG and McK pay them the same amount as MBA hires?
