Does anyone know what an email that says “Hi - scheduling time for a meeting” could mean at EY? It is at 9 am on a Friday morning. HR sent it to me today afternoon and also invited a partner on it. My guess it’s that it’s a layoff but when I spoke to my counselor, he had no idea what it could be and wasn’t able to offer me much advice. What would you guys recommend prior to this? Any advice on this, on severance, future job hunting, etc. would be appreciated. Thank you.

I asked for a raise and instead got laid off. Told that after looking into finances not only can they not afford a raise they cannot afford me. But I know for a fact they are replacing me with an Agency that say they can run our Social Media for 500pcm. Is this normal practice these days?

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.
