Hi All,
A suggestion required on the following companies. My personal details are YOE: 10+, Tech stack: React, Node, Express, Mongo, Jenkins, AWS(basics)
Offers in Hand:
Caterpillar Inc. : 37(32 Fixed)

How is work culture in Caterpillar & GE Healthcare?
Caterpillar: Don't know much about the project details, manager is friendly
GE Healthcare: Manager is like stretching work hours, weekend working etc.
Please help choose a company

They just got taken private by Private Equity, so I'd be extremely cautious. Jobs, locations, and corporate functions will be slashed left and right
Thank you for the feedback! I was told the role was filled on the day of my interview only to see it reposted 2 days later so this definitely is a company that I’d avoid.
Nahhh just Business as usual!
Layoffs after layoffs and the Deerfield office has been gutted. The downtown office is nice though.
There’s still fire in the coal! 🔥
If you’re looking for a high stress, chaotic, nobody cares or takes initiative, enjoy cleaning pee/poop/puke off the toilets/floor/door and bathrooms everyday, finding needles in the outside trash cans, being left high and dry to work the entire floor by yourself during peak hours because they pulled the rest of the staff to pharmacy, having the rest of the staff all take their break at the same time without telling you, having to clean, count the multiple drawers, and do everything for the pharmacy while they get to leave early and have certain days off while they complain the entire time and don’t life a finger, navigating phone calls of customers trying to reach the pharmacy and them screaming and cussing at you, the rest of the staff show up when they want and take break when they want, dealing with incompetent staff who can’t think for themselves, getting screamed at because you’re trying to ring somebody up while someone else is waiting in photo and there’s a customer waiting curbside all while the other employees are out back vaping/smoking, having the couponers/resellers cuss you out because the system won’t accept more coupons, your hours getting cut without any notice, having unrealistic expectations placed on you all day each shift and then being questioned when something didn’t get done when you were the ONLY person on the floor, loading thousands upon thousands of dollars of drug money on dealer’s Chime cards while being cussed out by the rest of the customers standing in line waiting, then this is the place for you! Welcome to the corner of happy and healthy…
I kinda miss that hustle and bustle! It made what I am today! I even broke some records in my 1st year 2020 to 2023! Shit man I Ran that W street like know ones Business! 2 Districts 10 plus stores! No Joke! South of PR! Air Jordan/The GOAT!
My BIL worked there and left around 2 years ago. He likens his departure with the taking the last helicopter out of Saigon.
Timing seems right. I was a leader at Walgreens back in the day when we did the Duane Reade acquisition. The subsequent Boots Alliance was a bad bad decision and led to the gutting of WAGs.
Do you think the cuts have subsided?
I’m looking at customer loyalty positions and thought Walgreens’ postings looked pretty good. However, if I make it to an offer, I don’t want to get laid off soon after joining.
I would avoid Walgreens at all costs. I was employed there briefly and was never trained in the areas that needed training and then expected to do those jobs and roles on my own without any support. Have you ever changed the ink on a massive industrial photo printer on your own? Me either. After my 60 days there, they cut my hours from FT to 10-12 hours per week with NO notice or notification of the change. When I asked why the PT staff got more hours than me and if it was a lack of performance? My store manager’s response, “those are the hours you’ll get if you want hours.” So thankfully I got another job and notified Walgreens of my notice and they told me to leave my key and go. And that was it. I’ve never felt better!
Even if they don’t cut your hours or the possibility of losing your job, the mental fatigue and wear down there is awful! Walgreens does NOT care about their workers/team. They only care about the pharmacy and accommodating their needs while leaving the store staff high and dry. If there are 5 people scheduled to work the floor from 8-5, they will pull 3 staff members to pharmacy while the store manager sits in the back and you’re left to fend for yourself the ENTIRE floor! Ringing up customers with a line 15 deep while 5 people are waiting in photo and 2 customers are waiting curbside and you haven’t used the bathroom or gone on break yet and expected to put up the entire truck while hanging sales tags and putting out fires for the pharmacy. Typical day at Walgreens.
M1 said it…PE bought it so I’d stay far away unless it’s the only option. Layoffs will come, benefits and salaries slashed, work load will increase, then once PE bleeds it dry of cash they’ll cut and run leaving everyone worse off. (Except the PE firm of course).
