I don’t think low utilization directly leads to a pip. It’s probably more related to why you were under utilized. Did you do more volunteering or trainings? Did your office not have enough work to go around? Or do ppl just not want you on their team. Only the last scenario could potentially result in a pip
Low utilization in and of itself isn’t a cause for a PIP. It’s only a factor if the reason is teams won’t pick you up because of a bad reputation
It’s not the cause of a PIP but it could be an indicator, ie you did not perform well and didn’t get picked up for jobs.
Thanks for the input everyone. So if my utilization is low because of falling into a lot of unbillable work (like volunteering, trainings, other miscellaneous stuff, like SA1 said), it should be looked on a little more favorably? I mean, I know it will still be an issue, I am just scared of it becoming an ISSUE. I don’t have any performance problems or bad feedback when it comes to my actual work. Also, I have gotten positive feedback for all of the unbillable work I have done. It is a weird place to be in coming up to the end of the year.
What's important is that you can show how you used your time for value added activities. Also, be sure that you aren't getting so focused on non charge activities that you pass up client work. We had an issue last year where people were saying yes to weeks of recruiting and then telling SMs and partners they weren't available for charge work.
Agree with all of the above. First year there’s a lot of leniency. In general it takes a while to get picked up on jobs. And some people start slow.
