If you rented in for work, your corporate program should cover it - just call the car rental company and its a simple form. You will have someone confirm via email that you were on a work trip.
If personal, you have a few options.
1) Opted for LDW - this is insurance you would have opted in when you rented the car. If this is on your agreement then just drive up and do the same thing I mentioned for corporate
2) Personal car insurance - a lot of insurance companies cover incidents for the driver irrespective of cars. This is usually pricier and chances are you don't have it.
3. Credit card - usually a tedious process. They will require you to likely file a police claim or show sufficient paperwork for proof of damage. Key is that the car must have been rented on the card directly and not through a third party like priceline which would further delay the process.
Good luck
OP, people have lost rentals before. Your damage is probably a few hundred dollars at best. Chill!
Dude, I have done some terrible things to rental cars. (Why is the Camaro wider at the back than the front?!!)
On an ACN rental, I just drop the car off and don't even wait for a receipt. Never had a problem.
You won't have to do much after that, it will go to a claims adjuster, who will contact your firms policy contact, they will in turn email you asking you to confirm if this happened while renting for work and handle the claim. This won't show up on your driving history or claims history. You are fine
OP, don't panic. These are some of the most common claims. Just show the attendant when you drop your rental off. They will make you fill up a small form, let them know you want to use Contract Insurance (whatever your firm has with them, it is usually a SIR policy)
Nah, no one on your project will know or care. Probably a week or so for you to hear from your firm's claims coordinator, and about 3-4 days for the claims adjuster. Give them both the same scenario. Also, you have probably spent more time on this than the actual claims process. Now I'm curious, what kinda car was it
M1: to confirm - it was indeed for work, and I used my corporate card to book it. When I return it, do I just flag to the attendant that there's damage and let them flag it? I didn't opt into LDW
A1: the rental is scratched 😫 It's noticeable if you look for it but not at a passing glance. The way it sounds, you tear up the rental and drop ot off.. but If I don't flag it, they'll charge me, no?
Thanks E1 - ill just flag it i guess. Seriously sweating like a dog over here..
Thanks 🐠 fam! Appreciate the help
Update: paperwork filed. When can I expect to hear from claims adjustor? And how long is this process typically? Will project manager be notified?
E1: start a therapy bowl. Your reassurance of the process soothes me. It was a Ford Fusion Hybrid
Lol all this for a fusion! Oh youngin
First experience with a rental car incident. Thanks for your sage knowledge E1 🙏
