Meta technical solutions consultant interview prep - can someone let me know if they have gone through the technical rounds for Technical Solutions Consultant role? Can you share what to prepare for since it’s not a data science type of role so most likely not hard level MySQL questions. Any specific types of queries that I should learn? Thanks!

Sometimes work is work, and that’s ok! You just have to decide how important being passionate about your job is to you. The reality is most ppl aren’t. You also could wait for better timing or opportunities to come along!
Also good advice and I do consider this a lot to. Hard trying to weigh up, balance and prioritise the right thing at the right time. Thanks.
^^^ That's what I did. Switched to nonprofit work and I can see the impact I'm having. It's been an incredibly meaningful adjustment, and I'm really glad I did it. Some nonprofits pay really well (depending on their size, funding, etc.) so it's not completely out of the picture to have a nice salary and do meaningful work as well. I'm sure there are some companies that have meaningful mission statements and work as well! I would look on idealist and workforgood to see what you find!
Thanks so much! That’s amazing it worked out for you!
Why not offer to volunteer with a not-for-profit a few hours a week. That way you can get into it and put it on your CV before you even start.
Can you do the same job for a company that does things that are meaningful to you?
Good idea. Thank you!
Find meaning in what you do with the money that you earn working. It’s nice and all to have a fulfilling job but a job that doesn’t crush or break you and allows you to enjoy the non working hours is plenty good.
Tech jobs can be trapping. A path out of your current “slot” can be to get a higher cert than you need for your job. Certs are required everywhere and a cert combined with doing a little bit of work in the direction you want to push your career combined with a well written resume could get you into a new field. That worked for me.
Many times the answer you’re looking for is already inside of you. You just need to clear the fog.
Some questions that might help you find your true answer.
- Imagine you’ll pass away in a year. What would you do? What would you not do?
- Imagine it’s 2034 (10 years later). And there are moves you’re super proud you made. And decisions you regret. Which do you see in the proud category? Which do you regret?
- If your best friend told you they had the same problem but you didn’t, what would you advise your friend to do?
Perhaps it's the wrong industry. Check out ones that are more meaningful to you and where you buy into the company culture.
I’ve started being a mentor at adplist and it gave me more motivation as a product designer. I recommend checking it out as it takes you outside your mundane day to day role and helps future product designers navigate the landscape.
When you help them obtain a role it gives me so much satisfaction and purpose 🥰
