Few months into a new job and my manager told me it’s a bad look that I have used/scheduled all my (pro-rated) PTO days, which I need more than ever due to pregnancy. Am I crazy to think this is a mundane way of thinking?

Would love to get your thoughts - I interviewed for a job after finding out I was pregnant 2 days before... there's a chance I may get the job and as much as I want a new job now I'm nervous to start just to go on maternity leave - How was it telling your new job you were pregnant?

It’s obnoxious but at least they told you.. optics matter, especially when you’re new and your brand/credibility can’t speak for itself yet. Is s/he annoyed at the scheduling notifications or at the actual usage of the PTO?

Maybe book it for yourself and inform the team closer to the date. If it’s because you are using your available PTO time, that’s a culture red flag that is harder to fix.

The actual usage. It’s funny because the rest of the team (including our team lead) does not feel the same way and they use all their days.

Saw someone asking about high-rise apartments in Mott Haven earlier. Just moved into a new apartment building here and honestly it’s not as bad as I thought. Trying to set family expectations and would love thoughts on 2 things. 1. How long after baby will I be ready for visitors beyond our parents? I’m thinking a few weeks. 2. Our 3 grandmothers are 1-3 hour flights away (3 diff places) and cannot travel. When will we be ready to take baby to see them? I’m thinking 4-6 months but that would also be flu/RSV season. Trigger: rare illness post birth

Just sharing that I was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia 3 days after giving birth despite not having risk factors or preeclampsia in my pregnancy. Sharing as I had absolutely no idea about this illness.

Main things to do are check your BP everyday at least the first ten days after you give birth, and go to hospital if it's very high (over 160/110). If you get severe headache or stomach ache then also be vigilant.

First trimester insomnia?
I’m only about 5 weeks, but my sleep schedule has gone off the rail the last three nights. I’m sleepy/drowsy, settled in bed around the same time every night, and yet I cannot fall or stay asleep. I have a white noise machine, comfy bed, cool room.. etc. When I do fall asleep, it’s earlier in the morning and I sleep until 1/1:30pm. This was fine the first few nights since it was the weekend, but it can’t keep up. Anyone else experience this and have any recommendations?

Is Unisom safe to take in first trimester? My doctor assured me it was and recommended because of nighttime nausea but I’m seeing a mix online that it can cause the baby development issues.

I’m around 21 weeks and have been dealing with a lot of leg, tailbone, back, and general muscle pain. Since I do work long hours Monday- Wednesday (10hr +) I’m trying find a comfortable chair to switch to. Any recommendations? Currently I’m switching every hour or so between my kneeling chair and standing.
