DC - no knives in backs, lots of posturing
ACN - backstabbity, but tech centric
Source: worked at both, prefer Deloitte
From the thousands of threads about this exact question, I believe the most fish say that, (contrary to D1) Deloitte is super aggressive, competitive, and throw each other under the bus, often to get a leg up on their peers.
Never saw someone from ACN post that, but maybe I missed a thread or two.
Haven’t met a lot of D fish personally, but have met a bunch of ACN folks and they’re all smart, driven, and know their 💩
Everyone will give you a different answer since culture is very much project team specific
Former ACN Strat here: Accenture is team oriented but there’s a star system in the background.
Heavy focus on tech - probably more now than ever. And the growth pressure is massive. The market expects 10-12% annual revenue growth and the firm has given very precise guidance on profitability.
Every executive I’ve known who’s left Accenture in the last 3 years (including me) said walking out felt like being 10 years younger. It may be like that at other firms as well, but Accenture is a machine
D1, I don't think anybody who's worked in ACN Strategy would say people in that practice backstab each other, we're quite collaborative. DD1 is absolutely right though that firm culture at both firms is super dependent on practice - having work at 4 different consulting firms, all I can say is that my opinion is ACN Strategy's culture is comparatively pretty great
Not sure I agree with D1 - I work in CMT strat for Accenture, and I've found the culture to be very team oriented, focused on helping people grow/learn and solve problems. We don't have the vast template library for projects...it's all about networking, asking around to find the expert and then they go e you what you need. I think it is a bit more laid back than Deloitte.
Hopefully that helps!
D1, sorry to hear buddy - glad things are going better at Deloitte for you!
IBM is spot on. On the tech focus...it really depends. I'm in CMT so my clients are tech. They hire us for product strategy and new market definition. Other groups are different. Again, depends on your skills and the clients you work with.
