Yes, appealing in Texas is especially common because your appraisal districts are extremely aggressive given the no income taxes. You may have a tough time because you’re at sales price, but you might be able to get them down to 90%-95%
Always protest the property taxes here in Texas. I closed on some vacant land in March for 66K and the appraisal office has it assessed at 87K for next year which is ridiculous. Always protest and it’s best to show them evidence of any issues as well that’ll help your case. Streets being bad, high crime in the area, etc. anything that can help bring down the value.
You can try but towns are using the market to go up on everyone everywhere. It’s always worth a shot though.
