Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

TBH - it think no one really cares about that, they want someone who will be happy doing the work, is qualified enough not to need hand holding, and can easily blend into the culture and not piss people off.
Not that often, to be honest. Usually it's something pretty easy to identify and quantify. One recent example of a more subtle distinction was a position that came down to three highly qualified candidates. They each had a final interview with the whole team and it ultimately came down to "vibes" (the manager's words). But this is pretty rare.

I usually dont look at small things as the tipping point. This is a big decision for both parties, so the decision is serious so I have to look at the entire package from interviews to salary to career aspirations. Hope that helps.
Very rarely does it come down to something subtle. It almost always comes down to experience and whether or not a candidate is a cultural fit. Its rare thta something small is why we go with one candidate over another.
Very often. Soft signals like clarity, curiosity, and how someone approaches problems out loud can tip the balance between two equally skilled candidates.
