You may need a pivot. If you are always the one let go, it might just not be the job for you. Take your skills somewhere they are valued.
Find an in-house gig that is the culture you want to surround yourself with, one that values each employee as an individual and respects boundaries. These companies exist, but it might take some time to find your perfect role.
I recommend making a list (now, while it’s fresh in your mind) of the qualities you want in your next job (e.g. boss who gives clear direction, room for growth, unlimited PTO) and qualities you won’t put up with (eg. too many stakeholders needed for project sign off, in office 3 days/week) so that you have something concrete to reference and ask questions about while you’re interviewing and shopping around for the next gig.
This sucks and I’m sure you deserve better treatment, but hopefully this will work out to be a positive for you in the long run.
Good luck!
Yeeeep. I was there last year. Freelanced for awhile and really liked the autonomy of being able to choose the sane clients and good pay I wasn’t seeing before. I’m client side now and digging the change of pace so far. Would never go back to an ad agency now that I’ve had those experiences/perspective.
Good luck in finding the next right move for you!
Same, freelancing ux work currently. I'm looking to pivot too.
