Hi Londoners ,
Moving in from outside UK.
Looking out for some areas in west / NW London where one can live with an infant on max 1400£ rental while requiring one partner to travel to Central occasionally for work and the other person 3 days a week to LHR.
Some Qns:
1) Will 1 Bedroom be too cramped for the infant to grow up? Should I raise budget?
2) I prefer being in family /childcare friendly areas. Had Harrow, Acton in mind . Are they good for my budget or any other suggestions?
TIA Deloitte @

@SAD1 way to be helpful.
Sorry I came off wrong. I would totally suggest trying ZogSports in SF. Great way to meet people outside of your circle
East coaster and introvert living in SF here 👋 I know the feeling, just wait til you get older, I’m 30 and it took me forever. I’d say let’s hang buuuut I live in Oakland so sounds like I don’t make the cut ;)
Come out Thursday!

I’ll be your friend
People in Seattle call it the Seattle freeze - maybe it’s the Alcatraz Iciness
I find people much easier to make friends with in SF than on the east coast. That being said, I’ll be your friend!
It can be hard anywhere.
Also, Urban Diversion gives you a good head start on making friends. Definitely worth doing for a few months.
Hard to make friends anywhere. Takes time
It’s the worst. Just go vegan, go on tirades about people who aren’t vegan. Hate Trump, go on tirades about hating Trump. Be gender fluid and tech savvy. If someone disagrees with you about anything just call them racist. Do all these things and your friends will
find you
No it’s not.
Urban diversion and zog sports looks fun, thanks for the reco’s! I was used to big agency life in LA where I had friends from school and all the agencies I worked at had loads of young people looking to make friends. @consultant 1, I feel ya. I’m a social introvert so it’s generally a hard time for me. The overall vibe of Sf is also a bit different imo, and I feel like people here are generally in a different life stage than me (25 y.o.). Been here a year and the friends I’ve made have either moved away or live in east bay haha. And to the few who want to be my friend, idk how to dm in fishbowl. 🤷🏽♂️
We met a ton of people by finding the Boston bar (where we were moving from) where everyone watched games. The city is so transient, people from the same place flock together. Then those people knew other people (not from Boston) and it snowballed. I also just used work and was super outgoing and never turned down an invite.
So hard. I’ve been in Boston for a year and made about 2 friends, both at work. On weekends, I’m basically alone. It’s miserable. So much so that I’m moving back to New York 🤷🏻♀️
*also, everything here shuts at like 9.30, which I don’t get, but that’s another post.
@OP - I moved to SF from NYC in 2013 and it also took me a long time to make friends. The agency vibe was just...different. I joined a running club (was my thing) and that definitely helped until friends through work just kind of came. I also did some Meetups, which also helped. And when you’re older and married, the invites don’t come as regularly. :)
Totally agree! I moved from chicago almost a year ago, I was on the peninsula until 3 weeks ago and it was miserable as a 20s single person
OP My friend changed the meetip date due to dad duty, it's TODAY -- Wednesday -- instead. Sorry about the short notice, I can't make it either.
Meetup is a great way to get connected.
