Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

Lots of jobs in industry also prefer CPA. I would get after it.
Certainly can’t hurt. I was in a corporate tax department after school and got the CPA even though not required. Several years later I wanted something different and came to EY as a manager. Never would have been able to if I didn’t have CPA
I work as a finance manager this is the only job I have ever had. Pursing my cpa, applied to bunch of public accounting firm only to face rejections

Definitely
yes
Definitely worth it. I never worked in public but got my CPA out of undergrad and it has helped me get raises and positions throughout my career.
It is a good idea to pursue your CPA and you could eventually work for a CPA firm. My biggest regret is that I never passed the CPA exam.
I’m a controller with a CPA and have never worked in public accounting. I went to industry straight out of college, so I’d say it’s definitely possible to progress without working in public.
Also, jobs will always prefer a candidate with a CPA than without a CPA, regardless of having worked in public.
