We are still busy. My utilization is at 110% and our hiring is still strong. Not a crazy as the last 2 years but we are still decently busy. No worries from me yet
100% utilization still. Middle market just has way too much money floating around needing to be spent, although the type of deal may differ. People are still pessimistic but deal flow doesn’t look to change at least in the near future.

I’m on two deals and getting hit up by recruiters for FDD roles so I think it’s more area dependent. Tech sector getting hit but healthcare people are getting smacked with work rn

Yessss. I’m like “where is this slow down. I certainly don’t see it” as a healthcare FDD person
Every team in my office is doing like 2-3 deals right now. Hopefully this slow down hits soon 😂
Just curious. How many deals a year do people work on? From my interviews it seems like you may go weeks with no work than work 3 deals at once and do 60+ hours of work
If you're in tax, probably 100+ deals a year.
I tried internally transferring to FDD at Deloitte as audit senior and was told (1) already backlog of seniors internally transferring and (2) deal activity is slowed to point where current FDD seniors are on the bench
Again it depends on firm and client mix. We have 3 open senior positions, all growth hires. Middle market has continued to be busy but not surprising that larger, Fortune 500 type companies are slowing m&a.

My utilization is around 50% now. Many seniors are the same
damn, whats expectation? im a couple of levels above and im above that
I’m getting blasted by recruiters via linkedin on a daily basis.. not worried

There will be layoffs for national/global firms to let go low performers. They tend to be opportunistic like that.
Yes
Lay offs?

That’s how things work in deals and partners know it^. Utilization isn’t a straight line
It is true, but this happens all the time. No firm can target perfectly on demand and supply. Do your best and the problem will not impact you.
Agreed it’s sector specific. We’re still growing quickly and still hiring. YE bonuses should be good :)
Seems to be a vast array of different situations. I do think the over hiring if analyst though hasn’t been great for the firms. A lot on the bench
Even in a recession there will be deals because smaller companies will either consolidate or be absorbed.
