I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

My mother-in-law says he’s worked on things, but it’s been 10 years of this and I’m not sure I want such behavior around my wife and our kids since we’re trying to conceive soon (cont).

I’m (early30s) about 8 months into a relationship with a 40m. Things are wonderful in every aspect, but he is absolutely atrocious with his finances. I felt it becoming an issue about two months ago. I just came home sobbing because I got too drunk at my female best friends house and her husbands male friend tried to take advantage of me when we were left alone in a hot tub. My boyfriend didn’t ask if I was okay but instead screamed at me, threw things and left the house. Dumping him is the only logical answer?? Am I crazy?

What advice would you like to give to the younger generation who are single/about to get married?

How does everyone bill for family law matters? Do you always bill hourly or is there some flat fee, monthly or quarterly fee structure that could work, even in contested matters? I have cases that the clients end up spending $20-$40,000 on a contested divorce and this is really out of their budget. I feel that if my firm could charge a flat fee of $10-$15,000, it would still be beneficial from a client predictability and volume standpoint and would generate more referrals.

Recently started my own firm and interested in others thoughts. Are there resources out there for practical advice or is it only something that comes with experience? For example, I can take let's say a 601A client and use the resources available to me to learn how to do it. But if a client asks me is it better to marry my fiance in her home country, bring her here on a K-1 or have her visit on a B-2, that's not learned from a book or webinar.
