Hello Everyone! Does anyone have a connection at Netflix ! I am an author/marketing associate and truly my dream job is to work on the team that creates/produces Drive to Survive. I am a huge F1 fan! However, I am willing to start where I can and work my way there! I was laid off due to Covid and just trying to get back into the field and industry I love.

Getting let go was the best thing to ever happen to me. I could tell early on the new CCO had it out for me as he had a reputation of axing anyone who was talented so that he could look like the best person at the company.
I went on to win at cannes, d&ad, one show etc the same year as my dismissal at several different places I was freelancing at. I used every bit of that firing as motivation to make that shitty agency realize they kept the wrong guy.
Everything goes into my motivation box. Everything. Lol.
Yes, and honestly it’s just best to let it go. Keep up the good work!
Yeah, my first real agency cw job. The CD said on the way out, "Maybe copywriting isn't your thing." Ended up at another agency and hired him to freelance for me.
yup - best thing that ever happened to me.
forced me out of a going nowhere client side position to the agency world where I’ve been for 10 years at 2 agencies.
fwiw, the guy who forced me out was axed 6 months later and he struggled to land somewhere - people saw him for the fool he was (took me about 2 weeks to get a gig)
I told him to put the work on the table that proved I wasn't working up to the level of my peers and got HR involved. It was downgraded to "it was only one tweet". He still wouldn't produce the tweet. Fun, well known fact, a good percentage of these white men were not promoted to CD because they are capable. Expose them. In the last meeting he was like "I don't know why you're being like this" because I kept demanding the work that sparked an HR incident. Bitch, you are trying to fuck up my career.
The vindictiveness is strong with this crew
Still waiting to kill it
Art Director 1, the 3% conference isn't a thing because every white male CD earned their title. Cindy Gallop has a term for them, "White mediocre men". Key words in my post were "a good percentage". Context clues, bro. Basically saying "some of the people some of the time." And with all the claims of white men in this industry sexually harassing women coming to the surface lately, I regret nothing. Look up racism, understand how it doesn't apply in this thread and get back to me. Or don't.
Getting fired was the career boost I needed and the best thing that could’ve happened. My book wasn’t good enough to get on staff at a big agency but it was good to enough to get a freelance gig, so I worked my ass off to prove myself. Got a full time job there. None of which would’ve happened if I was still employed at the place that fired me.
Fired 3 days after Christmas, less than 1.5 years later I️ was promoted at my next place, part of an Effie-winning campaign then won an internal company award for best project 😎. Worst day ever that spurred the best change of my career.
Absolutely. My first job had me doing very admin/intern-like duties where I didn’t excel. Once I was let go and found a job willing to support my skills I then excelled. Reminds me of that saying about measuring a fish’s intelligence by how well it breathes air.
Cheers to all of you.
You shoulda made him prove it. I did that and he had to change his story. These entitled aholes need to handled.
@SC1 👏👏👏
I didn't get fired because I quit, but it was clear that's where they were headed. 2 months later, my boss quit, and 3 months later the client left them. I am (kind of?) Killing it but mostly feel vinidcated.
Yup, GCD now. Everything is better.
I️ have. Made sure to add my old CD on linkedin after I️ got a new job at an agency light years better and then got promoted a year after being there.
@Edelman 1 How did you and him prove it?
