Thats pretty standard in the DC area.
1 hr each way is nothing - I’m used to LA traffic! Key is to learn traffic patterns and avoid. For example, I just drive to LA at 5am and go to the gym there so I’m limiting commute time but still getting in my daily routine. Podcasts, audiobooks are also great! Also, hopefully they have flexibility on work from home days.

2 hr round trip meaning 1 hr each way is not bad. Some people in NYC metro have more than that via train and subway.
My parents had a 45-minute each way commute for years- they didn’t mind. But if it was double that? Out of the question for quality of life.

If this is 2hrs each way, This won’t last. Something will change, if you are expecting it or not
OP, is this in NC? Feels like my situation lol

That's par for the course in the DC area. Over the 11 years I've been here, my one way commutes have ranged from an average of ~45 minutes on the short end to about 75 minutes on the long end. Throw an instance of worse traffic than typical in there and the commute can easily get 50%+ longer.

Thanks for the perspectives. It’s been helpful
My wife and I did it in Boston, San Jose, and DC while we were in industry. I think it is pretty common. Get a comfortable to drive car.
I won't say "oh it's nothing" because too many people it is something, but certainly doable. It may mean some shifting of chores and work around the house.
