It’s part of how our culture is mutating. More and more people take the good stuff for granted and only give you feedback when things don’t go well. It might be a case of someone who doesn’t have anything negative to say, and therefore the default is to say nothing - which is bad
My current manager is like this. He says when things are good and requests revisions. However we don’t have a review based system here so it’s rare to get feedback or even recognition for anything. In an environment like that it’s either best to take the reigns on your responsibilities a bypass the recognition/feedback or move onto a company that will potentially offer you that.
Not only did my manager give almost zero feedback, he also cancelled 80% of our 121s. In 6 months I had like 4 calls with him. Now I'm moving to a different unit to someone who will have my back, offer support, encouragement and advice, advocate for me, promote me etc
I am manager btw, him VP.
This is gonna be the next generation of managers once current grads get there lmao. I’d try to take the initiative and actively ask for feedback.
