Yes. Turns out my medication was filled with a different manufacturer. I may as well have been taking a sugar pill, that’s how ineffective it was for me. After a lot of sleuthing I figured it out and was able to determine what manufacturer it was. I talked to my doctor and pharmacy. Turns out medications are only required to be like 80% the same chemical formula between manufacturers, and after that they can use whatever they want. It’s not uncommon for a certain formulation to just not work for some people due to their biological makeup, and it’s seen across many different types of medications. I actually had to switch pharmacies because the one I was using started only stocking this one manufacturer. My new pharmacy has a note on file not to fill it with the manufacturer that doesn’t work for me.
This is the correct answer.
When was your last vacation? If you’re able to, take some time off of work and take a short break from your meds. The small break from your meds could help.
Also not sure your age or gender, but adhd symptoms definitely get worse with menstrual cycles and pre-menopause. Might be worth a visit to the doctor to discuss your med situation and try to explore the causes
That's pretty typical. Sooner or later your body will become amune/dependent to it. Sadly it's why we become addicted to the stuff.
Rising Star
I believe NTs that take the meds we need would get addicted. But for neurodiverse folks it doesn't get us high or anything.
I know if I am eating certain things: food dye, food preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, or gluten, and too much dairy my medication was much less effective
I also have to stay hydrated and get a decent amount of sleep or it was not as effective
I’ve recently just experienced this. And it’s definitely not the typical increased tolerance scenario mentioned above. It was a sudden, extreme drop in effectiveness of my Adderall coupled with insomnia issues I’ve never had before.
I’ve since tried an increased dose, but that was a no go because of the sleep thing. I also tried some newer med options like Azstarys. Unfortunately, those also were a no go because pretty much all new options are extended release and I’m one of those people who metabolizes the medication faster resulting in extreme rebound when XR meds wear off. Had hoped newer stuff wouldn’t do that to me again. Sadly I was wrong.
Next up I’m going to give Jornay a shot since it seems to work well for my daughter.
Yeah, studies show that after a couple years (for most) symptoms return to normal.
