I just had a friend who went from 40% to 100% and he went with an outside company, that I don’t know if they charged him or not. But he had some pretty big issues.
Once he filed with this company or with the help of this company, it was less than two months before he was approved for his hundred percent.
Do you happen to know what company that was?
I recently started about 2 yrs ago..I tried with the DAV but they were totally unhelpful with appeal.. but did provide me the paperwork I needed to get started.. if you go on the VA website there is a list of va certified VSO that will help you for free..I recommend getting in contact with one of them.. number one make sure you have your medical records so they can help you better. You can file without having it and claim a bunch of stuff but if there is nothing service connecting it in your service record it will get denied but you can always appeal. I also highly recommend going on fb and adding yourself to "Veteran 2 Veteran Info" group, it's ran by a veteran/ VSO and they provide great info on filing, appealing, etc etc.. hope this helps
VSO was wounded warrior project and I can't stress how great they are
I used WWP and they assisted with getting my appeal done and ultimately to 100%
I applied without a VSO as they took too long to work with. I highly recommend getting a download from your OMPF file, VA Hospital Records, and any medical records you can still access through the tricare site.
Further - it may be valuable to put a request in for your claims file through a FOIA request. Just google “requesting Va claims file” and it’ll get you the form.
The process to submit VA claims is straight forward however you do need legit evidence of atleast a complaint of an injury or disability during service, and then continued care. Aside from that presumptive conditions which correlate to medical complaints in your service records will almost always get granted
VSOs are very helpful if you have the right one. I would recommend using one based off references if you can. You can also apply yourself like I did. I provided all the evidence I had to support my claim. One was denied and from there I did use a company to fight it for me. They take like 30% of the back pay if I win but it’s not work on my end so that was fine with me. The most important part is your documentation so if you have all that you can do it yourself. I would go on the website and file an intent to claim now. That gives you time to get everything together but if you win they will back date payment to the date you file intent to claim vs the day you submit the claim. Which is helpful if you need time to gather documents/buddy statements.
I went through a friend who runs a business doing just this. I had to pay a small %, but that % was worth the jump from 90-100.
Just sent you a DM
I think I applied around April or May '23, and I got my increase by July '23. I did it all myself via electronic filing. I explained in clear terms what I had to deal with on a daily basis on the form. If one or more service connected disabilities (SCD) are aggravating other SCD that should also be clearly stated. Explain how SCD A effects SCD B, F, etc. If you are missing work due to your SCD, explain how the condition causes you to miss work.
Once you have your appointment for evaluation, you can explain in detail to the doctor. Do not be concerned about being gross, if need be, when explaining to the doctor how your SCDs affect you on a daily basis.
You are your own best advocate because you are living with the condition(s).
Hope this helps.

I did mine last year and used the country VSO. Totally worth it because they did all the work then I just had to go to the appointment. I did reach out to American legion who were very nice and old, son they did everything via paper which felt burdensome. Amvets had a 6 month wait to get an appointment. Dav never responded.
