Has anyone here transitioned from PA to a internal accounting role at a law firm? Curious to hear about what that transition was like and the WLB at law firms in comparison to PA.

Has anyone successfully turned their side gig into full-time? Or an income enough that it could be?

What does your firm offer in terms of career development and support and how would you rate the quality of those initiatives? I feel like I've plateaued and haven't grown professionally for some time.

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

I am a Mechanical Engineer currently in Structural Analysis domain for 2 years and Want to change my domain to Data Engineering or Big Data Developer. What should be my approach and ideally how long would it take to get into this industry ?

I work at a small, 3 lawyer firm. One of the lawyers is not barred in the state we practice. Because of this, the managing attorney has been having him draft motions and other legal documents and use my name and bar number and having me file them because I will have to appear in court for the matter. Is this normal? I am not provided time to review the materials before I file them so I end up working longer days because I am nervous to file something using my name and bar number.

Finally feel the need and drive to pass this damn exam once and for all .. far may 25 th any tips ?

For the people who earned the SHRM-CP, did you feel it was worth it? I have an indirect HR position, been applying for more HR focused positions and wondering if this would help. I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

I started a position a month and a half ago at a large holding company. My manager left after 2 weeks of training me, and his replacement is likely going to be another senior accountant. Tax Manager - what type of stuff can I exit to? I mostly has flow through entity experience and no income tax provision experience at a Top 15 firm.
