Has anyone thought of leaving recruiting for a tech role themselves? I was actually approached about this today. Crazy idea? Comp would increase ~25k and it would offer a little more job security, plus a new-ish area of work which could be interesting. Thoughts?

I have considered but I’m already doing non-recruitment work. I know some recruiters that are considering becoming software engineers.

Would love to change industries but the stress level is much higher and I’m not sure I want to do a boot camp to “maybe” be exceptional in another role. Comp would increase significantly obviously.

I would LOVE get out of recruiting! Go for it!

Go for it!

Yes. I did and got laid off along with other tech engineers

With or without experience in a technical role? Man, I’d love that!!!! Average entry is at least 80-90k.

I had thought about moving into a Tech PM role but I’m glad I didn’t. I’m currently in-house and make more than 90% of the Senior Engineering Managers. I would not be anywhere near this comp if I had switched.

Is there any Pharmacovigilance role in EY ?

I know that you can negotiate a signing bonus to make up for bonuses or stock options you're leaving on the table by leaving a company, but can you negotiate a signing bonus for un-vested options in a privately held company? If so, how do you know what to ask for? I have about 2000 shares vesting in late October but the company mentioned a start date in early September. The strike price is like $5 and the current valuation for the 2k shares is like $40k. Company is probably 3+ yrs from IPO.

I recently worked with a recruiter from Robert Half for a position they contacted me about but I ended up not getting an offer. Recruiter mentioned that if I am interested in other job listings they can help me get more information, etc. My question for you all, what are the pros/cons of getting them involved with getting more info about listings I see? The experience I had with RH was mostly positive. I think the negatives were with the company and not RH.

I got a job offer for what seems to be a great company but I’m not sure if I would have the same life balance. I started interviewing as a way to see my worth in the industry. My current role is at a small company, and I’m not sure how I could grow within the role because Im not advancing my skill, I just do the same thing every day at a lower level. I like my current role because it’s flexible and I’m paid well for not doing very much work. Should I switch to a more rigorous job?

Headhunters/Recruiters…

I’ve never dealt with a headhunter before, and I’m taking everything they say with a grain of salt, so insight as to their effectiveness, reliability, and overall successful placements in or equivalent to the type of firms they have connections with is greatly appreciated.
