Have been over 100% utilized until rolling off 3 weeks ago. Have been operating at a SME capacity and could start getting placed in team lead roles. However, pipeline for my practice has evaporated

I think you should take a deep breath. 2 to 3 weeks on the bench is nothing. I look at anyone that says their career is on a "fast track trajectory" with only ~2 years of experience pretty skeptically.

like

Next potential engagement is at least 2-3 weeks out. Career is currently on a fast trajectory and want to keep the momentum going. Spent 13 months at my first employer and 14 months now at my second employer. Does these lengths strike anyone as a red flag?

Ideally would like to pivot into Digital Strategy given my exposure to it in my SME roles, but could continue in the Advance Analytics track as a senior practitioner/team lead.

Any thoughts or advice? If your firm is hiring for Digital Strategy please give dm if you are willing to chat and possibly refer

The most concerning thing I hear is pipeline. The ability of your practice to continuously sell new work is critical to your continued employment. If there’s a gap for more than a couple of weeks where you are forced into the bench, look for every opportunity to diversify.

I'm 6 months old at D! Planning early promotion next year.. counselor and pm both are backing me.. I need to go to India for at least 4 weeks in Dec ... most probably would be rolling off from current project by then .. would this vacation hurt my promotion chances coz of utilization etc?

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

So apparently accenture is making people who are on the bench enroll into a mandatory customer service role even if you’re 100% utilized. Friend took 3 weeks of PTO and has been on the bench for a few days and he is being forced. Worst part? It’s Tues-Saturday.

My target promotion year on TOD is 2022. My manager said we might sell to client and extend this project in September but nothing guaranteed.

I’ll start. Trying to get non local resources utilized. National Leadership thinks this is the answer to our problems but local leadership is hesitant.

Making a lot of money relative to the average but feeling poor? Median after-tax income was ~$55,000 in 1981 and was ~$73,000 in 2020. Using a Bank of Canada inflation calculator $55,000 in 1981 is equivalent to ~$165,000 today, which would put someone in the top 10% of earners today. But in 1981 the median family had that extra money. Who can I blame?
