Have the layoffs slowed?

@PWC is worst company for freshers. They are force innocents to resign by themselves and threating then to not to mail anyone and not share this context to anyone worst company, if layoff means ok removing and threatening to not to disclose to anyone means the have lost every single moral. Don't fall trap in the brand name @PWC.

Got laid off. Have savings to hold me until I find a new position but mostly I'm just embarrassed. Has anyone ever gotten laid off and not told their friends/partner about it? I just don't want people in my circle to know I failed basically.

I heard from my head that there is a lot of slowdown in VW Germany... There is Hiring freeze, level freeze and all ... And soon that will spillover to india. I asked for a raise and instead got laid off. Told that after looking into finances not only can they not afford a raise they cannot afford me. But I know for a fact they are replacing me with an Agency that say they can run our Social Media for 500pcm. Is this normal practice these days?

I passed CPA and have audit experience but I don’t really understand how industry accounting cycle works :( What does it mean to close the books? Are they referring to 12/31 deadline? Do all JE have to be recorded within this date? How does one close it?

Desperately want to get into healthcare strategy consulting. 13 years of healthcare clinical experience including project work. MBA. But keep getting told by recruiters that I don't have enough experience to be a Consultant or Manager but that I have too much experience to enter in every level such as a Senior Associate.
