Yes, that has happened more than once.
In one scenario, I left after 6 months. It wasn’t worth the stress.
Another I rode out for a few years because I had a very cool boss and I liked the people I worked with.

Definitely. I left after 10 months because it wasn’t at all what I was expecting.

Yeah, or they say it’s a fast paced role and turn you get there and it’s very slow with no challenges

1000%. Almost every job I’ve had. Once they figure out you have more untapped skills they will try to extract every ounce of your talent for no additional title or money. It can be very very bad because they can run you into the ground.

Bro, the job market in LA lately feels seriously broken. I spent weeks tweaking my resume, got referrals, barely any callbacks. Legit thought it was the formatting - or something stupid like missing keywords. My buddy told me most companies just auto-reject based on whatever their resume scanner spits out, which honestly makes this whole process feel pointless sometimes.
So here's what I did: ran my resume through a few ATS scanners - Resume Worded, ResumeJudge, and SkillSyncer. Each one flagged totally different stuff. Turns out I was missing some of the right buzzwords for the job postings, plus my header kept breaking the formatting. After messing with their suggestions and refixing my template, I started hearing back again, at least a bit.
Honestly, don't blame yourself too much, the system is built to filter out most people, not actually measure skill. What kind of roles are you applying to (like dev, PM, creative)? Are you matching the job ads literally word-for-word on your resume? I can check out your portfolio if you want, sometimes that's the missing piece. Let me know what you find when you test your CV - curious if ATS scanners catch anything wild in entertainment jobs specifically.
