Heading to business school soon with the intention of existing into tech post-MBA, preferably as a PM. Should I focus solely on prepping for PM roles, or should I be interviewing for consulting gigs as well given how unpredictable PM exits are? Will I be able to exit into tech as a PM after a year or two in consulting?

I recommend having a back up plan. Lots of people go in wanting to do one thing but don’t get any offers and have to recruit for another field. Maybe it’s not consulting but your backup could be something else in tech. That might be an easier transition to PM should you have to go that route. Also, the prep process will help you get a sense of the role and maybe you learn that it’s not what you actually want to do.

TLDR: don’t ONLY prep for one role and have a backup plan

Good point, thanks. Any suggestions as it relates to something else in Tech that would be an easier transition to PM?

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.
