Hello! I’m a new grad on orientation in the ICU. I’m lucky to be with supportive staff, and I’m over the moon with what I’m learning and experiencing.

While I love the challenge and frequent chaos of caring for a critical patient, I find the aspect of the job I feel most effective with is comforting dying patients. Provide pain meds, holding hands, and gently talking to them at the end. I’m curious about the transition from ICU to hospice or palliative care? Is this common among ICU nurses?

I'm a light sleeper who cares too much about the people around me, but I've got a flight to London next Friday from 7pm NYC time to 7am UK time, and I'd really like to master sleeping on a plane just this once and not be in jet lag hell for the entire day after I land. I'll be in premium economy in an aisle seat. I usually take melatonin before bed and sleep on my side. Does anyone have suggestions for an OTC sleeping pill or pillow that actually works, or other advice for sleeping on a plane?

When ppl talk abt mental health in adv, we neglect the topic of cognitive dissonance. Most of us work on clients that are terrible in some way - sweatshops, bad for enviro, unhealthy. How do u cope?

TTC for a while now, and I think my mind/body’s playing tricks on me. I didn’t have my regular period this cycle, more like spotting, and have bouts of nausea but the home kits have been negative. It’s trying to go through this every month.

I know everyone will have different answers for this but how did you know it was time to get sober? I think it might be time for me to find a new job and pursue sobriety, but I don't feel like I'm a rock bottom which is the only time I've ever seen people really commit to it (my father). Apathy isn't the right word but I just kind of feel numb about everything and I think being sober would maybe help.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year.
