I wanted to get an idea for salary progression in IT sales.

I live in the uk, current salary progression is;

Job 1 - 10 Months / £20K

Job 2 - 4 Months / £22K

Job 3 - Current / £25K Uncapped commission


I’ve been speaking with my CEO and he gave a rough rule of staying in the same job for 3 years would be a £10K P/A increase in salary.

What are peoples experience with progression?

Would taking a director of legal operations position (jd preferred or a plus) make it hard to get back to practicing in a firm or another company?

Would this be a bad time to switch positions for the purposes of career progression and higher compensation? My current position seems stable but no room for growth and also a disorganized mess, not a very mature legal department. On one hand I’m the only that knows what they’re doing on the other hand i would like to go somewhere where I can learn more how a mature legal department should operate within a legally savvy business. Currently at BNY Mellon with 10 YOE, specifically in Corporate Trust working CLO/CDO’s (first job out of college). I’ve moved around within the bank a few times but I’m just not happy here nor am I where I want to be in terms of comp . I want to pivot into something else but I have no clue what skills I could transfer elsewhere as what we do is so niche. Some recruiter in Accenture lined me up for an interview for a role which was not in my skillset ( by saying that this is just an evaluation exercise and they will map me to the right role) and obviously I got rejected. Now I see that I am not eligible to apply the role which I was targeting for the next 6 months. Any idea how can I get this escalated so that the recruiter ( Accenture employee) should at least be careful in future before fooling a noob like me?
