What does it take to switch into a Sale Engineer role? I started my career in tech consulting and then switched to solutions engineering, but not at all on the Sales side of things. I remember working sales when I was in highschool and I loved the rewarding feeling of landing a customer. I'd love to someday switch back into it, since I find myself loving tech but not really the best at it.

Hello everyone I have 29 years as a dental professional in Texas. I started as a dental assistant back in 1993. As my career progressed as a RDA, I moved to the front office and eventually management. I even taught dental assistants and became the Program Director of a DA program. COVID opened up remote work for me, I manage eclaims, claims corrections and billing for two offices. $20 per hour, no bonuses or incentives, I know I am not getting paid enough! Any input would be appreciated.

I'm at an early stage tech start up and gaining experience in an industry that I like. However, I am getting no formal training or sales coaching. Everything I've done so far (Inc. Curious what the base and commission structure is for inside sales and associate director of sales in biotech (also anyone else who wants to share pls put industry). Paid hourly or salary? At the biotech company I work at avg inside sales is $62,632 with a $3500 per quarter cap. Commission structure is % based on sales quota reached vs capped (not a direct % of sales). I’m underpaid at $53000 with $3500 cap per quarter.

What are some ways that you’ve created urgency or rebuilt momentum in a deal cycle where it was otherwise lost? (E.g. customer ghosting you)

I’m looking for some advice and/or to vent a little. I’ve been looking for a sales job specifically to pivot into tech sales and I’m getting rejected non stop and it’s really starting to weigh on me and ruin my confidence.

The positives are, I’m actually getting interviews- about 5 so far, I get to the later/last rounds but can’t seem to close the deal. I’ve tried learning from each experience, and taking that as growth for the next interview but it hasn’t worked.

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.
