Hey FB, anyone considering the chase sapphire reserve card? I rely a lot on alt travel and points so would only see 3:1 points on dining. Currently own the sapphire preferred.

I have the CSP and Amex Platinum. Will be applying for the CSR tomorrow and downgrading my CSP to Freedom Unlimited (no annual fee and 1.25 points/$ fixed rate). CSR has the $300 travel credit each year, so that essentially makes it a $150 annual fee card. $50 more per year than the CSP is a no brainer with the 100k point bonus, 3x travel and dining multiplier, and 1.5 cents/point redemption through the Ultimate Rewards portal

Upgrade from your current card tomorrow but you won't get the initial 100,000 point bonus. The card comes highly recommended from a trusted source

like

Right. Major deficiency in domestic lounges.

like

Got it today. Not an upgrade, it's a separate card. $4k spend in 3 months for the 100k bonus

like

If you can cover the $5k spend for the 100k point offer, it's worth it for at least a year. After that is questionable, especially since lounge access is just Priority Pass.

Why is priority pass bad?

D2-limited lounges, mostly abroad

@D1 I don't think the number of lounges are the issue (900+ globally) and I use their lounges nearly every time I'm in an airport overseas (open bars and buffets in LHR and MEX 😃). The issue is domestically I've been turned away from their partner lounges because they will (understandably) give access to first or business travelers before Priority Pass members

If I have sapphire normal, can I get the bonus for sapphire reserve signup?

Yes

Working remotely from Canada on tourist visa?

I am planning to take a 15 day trip to Canada from US but most of that time I will be at my relatives place and not going out much. I was thinking I'll work from there for a week and take rest off?

Tourists are generally not authorized to work but this is remote work and my employer has no offices in Canada.
