Hey Female Bosses- given as we go up the corporate ladders we become less "time rich, money poor" and more "money rich; time poor" - how do you keep track of/ acknowledge friends and family milestones given women often are expected to do the emotional labor? I'm thinking a subscription to send flowers to people? Or something else?

Is it unreasonable for me to ask my husband to leave his job (or request unpaid time off) to take care of our children? We have been trying to both work from home with 2 kids at home (ages 2 and 4) and it has been a general shitshow every day. I’m dropping the ball at work constantly, working till 2am almost every night and working every weekend, and the kids are suffering too (way too much tv time and not enough outdoor time and constantly acting out for attention as we are unable to engage...

There’s this guy at work I really like. We’re really really good friends but I’ve caught feels since the day I met him and I just want to tell him how I feel but I don’t want to ruin our great friendship. He’s the closest friend I have.

Is it okay to disappear from friends & family to work on career change goals (several months)? I want to focus and not get distracted by friends & family needs to see me or attend certain things as it takes up a lot of time. If I focus for a short time, I can quickly achieve my goals to switch. I can hangout with them after all of that. What do you think?? Any feedback will be appreciated.

I know this isn’t a marriage therapy bowl, but my husband has a really terrible tendency of saying things like “you’re being really mean” and completely shutting down during a disagreement when i objectively am not being mean, just truthful or vocal about how i feel about something. It’s a really convenient argument for him because it enables him to either be the victim and me the villian, or forces me to concede my stance and not reach a true resolution. Any tips on dealing with the irrational?

I’m mid 30s F. Recently started seeing this guy, where he is “good enough”. Good conversations, decent time together, he has a good heart, but nothing about him shines. - not fit (I work out everyday and play sports), meh social skills (he doesn’t have best friends, just few he hangs out with), bit less energy than me.

Growing up was rough. On my 8th birthday my dad had an accident that led to this death a few days later. He was a good man who took care of us all (I had 3 siblings now 2; lost 1 few years ago). I'm in a good place in life right now I only find myself in the last 5years shedding a tear once a while when I'm alone. It startles me because I was a tough kid who didn't cry and just soaked it all in and rolled with it. I'm almost 40 and can't explain what's happening with these tears.

I'm a US citizen living abroad I applied almost 11 months ago for my spouse. Married for years, kid. I wait and wait. It seems this will take 2 years, maybe more. I feel trapped. On one side the US system demands I work and domicile in US, the other side says families should be prioritized to stay together. My spouse has had enough of the process. I feel trapped abroad and locked in a dysfunctional system. We're just in limbo, it's depressing

Anyone else have family know you are struggling to conceive and then when their kids act out they turn to you and say, “you sure you want kids?” I guess they are trying to lighten things but I find it really hurtful.

I'm realizing I don't really have any "healthy" ways of relaxing outside of work, so drop whatever you got. I work in a firm that is known for litigation defense. I’ve been developing my own plaintiffs practice as well. I am able to pay the bills with my hourly defense work, which gives me time to focus on a handful of high value PI case a year on contingency. I was recently negotiating a case and was told part of the reason the claims rep/OC was jerking me around was because they didn’t see me as a plaintiffs attorney.
