Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

Have some patience bro. We all have been there. Your Yoe is just 1 year. You can switch once you get 2+ yoe. Until then, keep learning new things and upskill yourself. Then you'll be able to get more. Don't take much stress. Keep smiling 😊
Dont worry about salary right now, if you are having proper work right now focus on developing and enhancing your skills, but if learning part or good work is missing you can look for a switch
Hello,
I can totally relate with you, so, first thing that I would like to say is don't get disheartened. I too started my career with Infy in 2015 and currently negotiating with my third company, hopefully. If things turn out well, I'll be getting around 20+lpa
(The reason I mention this is just for you to compare it with our starting salary at Infy and I'm not sure about your aspirations but for me this is pretty good 😉)
As for suggestions, here is what I can say:
#Keep up-skilling yourself
#Find time and do your own small projects. Trust me, these can be useful when you plan to switch.
#As you've just started, don't hesitate from working on a something different. You never know what might interest you.
(For instance, I was trained on Python, got into a n/w project where most of the work was done on C, so I started practicing C while upgrading my python skills. Now, I am using both the languages in my current project)
##Last but not the least..
You've started earning man!! So.. take pride in that, why get frustrated. Just chill, keep learning and start looking for new opportunities.
All the best!!!
I think everyone here are pesants....
Just kidding...
When compared to mine .I think everyone's situation is way better ..
I started with 2.3 LPA and 6 years went by and pakage stalled @ 3 LPA..
Mistake is on my side.. I should have switched company sooner but I've been lazy and been in a comfort zone for long time..
Now I've learned my lesson and got offer for 11 LPA.
I am not sure about your financial situation and not in a position to advise you either.
Just letting all fishers know that people like me exists.
A person is frustrated because of package will always be frustrated that to with just 1 yoe itself. If u keep comparing there will be many ahead of u at each point of time because we are just in IT where lakhs of engineers pass out every year .So stop getting frustrated now itself on package get frustrated for having less skills which will take u to places. Stop worrying about package and worry about skills.
Note : This is to not demotivate u, I just said harsh reality, IT companies can just replace us in minutes we are not in that era of most employee centric. So as long as u keep relearning u will have opportunities and better pay.
Started with 1.2 L in BPO Current CTC 3.6 L Now holding a offer of 6 L ( 4+ YOE) ...
I am peaceful when I stopped comparing.
Recently started learning new skills...
Hope this is helpful....
I repeat stop comparing....
Thanks for reading....
I also never compared with some one... Or i don't have big dreams...
But if you have nice between 25-40's you are good with retirement or even can do side hustle with extra money
Bro I didn't even get 2.5LPA for almost 2 years while working with wipro. Now switching after giving it a lot of thoughts and getting 5.6LPA. For some this might still be less but I see myself satisfied with it. Just wait for a while and continue looking for opportunities you will get what you deserve.
Bro you are lucky you are into infy to Kickstart your career. In beginning of your career you should just focus on learning and increasing your skillset. They are providing you descent starting package. If you are getting frustrated with this I am sorry but that's not a good sign. I too started my career with Infy with same package and stayed thr for 3.5 years. I learnt a lot and today have an offer of 26LPA with yoe of 8 years. So focus on learning and forget about money for at least 2.5 years. Don't get tempted by reading posts here , whoever is talking about good packages all are good experienced folks who have excelled in their technology. So at this moment don't start salary comparisons.
If you don't have financial responsibility then Don't just rush for money. First 2 years of learning will always be more valuable than any package. You are going to get the good package sooner or later. If you feel that i am ready i have good experience only then switch. Just don't go after package its not good in long term.
Make sure you learn something and give your 100% on everything first few years will never come back... Just forget on the monetary outputs...
Start giving interview .. you will get better opportunity.. but if you don't get calls then don't take this as failure or stress out . It all depends on demand
You started your career with Infy? So you must have package around 3.5LPA, right?
While 3-4 lpa is the general trend for freshers with almost all the MNCs, it also depends on how you performed during your interviews. I myself had an offer of 6.8 here at Capgemini as a fresher during campus placements. And I come from what's supposedly is called a Tier 3 college.
3.5 is really good start i think, i started from 1.2. now 15+ after 2yr... Have patience and add more skills in ur resume..
I second the previous comment about keeping patience. If you have worked in any company for 1 yr, you would have actually learnt more skills than applying your knowledge.
Invest another 2-3 years, spend time learning upstream and downstream things of your project. Then look for jobs, I am sure you will find deserving pay.
Please don't be in a hurry.
If your BI then concentrate on cloud data engineer.
Azure or AWS
Don't worry about new freshers salary.. learn skills . Be an expert there. If project not good switch project or get better trainings.. then think about earn when you are good at something ...
Dont worry about the salary at this point of time of your career. Focus on learning and look for better opportunities when you are ready.
It's obvious to feel underpaid as there are always people who get paid way much higher than what we get, at the same experience level.
Since your YOE is less you can try changing domains try to get into Software Development you can easily make 10-20 LPA
Chief
are you from computer science background, and Which BI tool do you have expertise into?. Do you have any other skills or learning?
Dude, my relative started at 3 LPA in 2013. He is at 30 LPA now. Keep patience and Keep Learning. Give some time.
