Hey, I need some advice. I was put on a 90 PIP, and I’m 60 days in. I feel like I been following all the guidelines and have stepped up my performance. Recently though my manager’s manager set up a “skip level meeting” 5 days after my pip ends. I’m worried I’m getting fired, any thoughts?

Look for a new role now and start applying. A pip is a courtesy of “we want you gone but are giving you a heads up before we fire you”

like

Even if you survive the PIP, it’s a Scarlet Letter that stays on you for years. If layoffs start, they’ll look back 2-3 years of who has done poorly, and even if you’ve improved, you’ll be the one laid off.

Secondly, people talk, so everyone will know you were on a PIP, so you’ll be facing pretty big headwinds for promotion and internal moves.

The minute your put on a PIP you should be aiming to leave.

like

Agreed - start looking now if you haven’t already, no sense in starting. Let us know how the meeting with the MD goes!

Understand the nervousness. I’d say if skip level was as PIP ends you would have more to worry about, but I can’t confirm.

Ask your manager how you’re doing so you can be sure you’re meeting their expectations.

Anyone have any idea when the hiring freeze might end within AWS ProServ? I’m currently at Amazon and have a TS clearance, PMP & CSM. I come from a Big4 consulting firm with a background in Enterprise Performance. I’ll be honest and say I’m not feeling very safe in my current role with the ongoing layoffs. Instead of leaving, I’d love to go back to my “consulting roots” and join the ProServ team. I’m taking my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam next weekend. Hoping this freeze is lifted soon.

Hey fishes!!
I absolutely hate my job and would like to resign ASAP but my bond period is until Feb 2023 but they are already having a qualifying exam which I won't clear and will get fired anyways in Jan 2023...but they are refusing to let me go without paying bond money.. What will happen if I just get myself fired😑

So my partner will be getting laid off 4/15. 🥺

Let the games begin, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

How am I expected to bill 1900 hours when I only have 8 cases and when I ask for work no one responds. I even asked the partner in person for work and he said he was slow and didn’t have anything for me.This month I’ve only billed 80 hrs. Its making me anxious because I don’t want to get fired for low hours but also I’m a first year so will they have some mercy on me? Lol

I’ve had radio silence from a small investment bank for about a week now. I’ve completed several rounds of interviews, but last Thursday the firm reposted the job I’ve been interviewing for. On Friday the headhunter said that they’re not sourcing new candidates and it’s probably just LinkedIn automatically refreshing the listing. She said they had a busy week last week but will make a final decision this week - is the delay and radio silence a bad sign or is this typical for experienced hiring?
