Hi all, are there any biotech folks here? I just started my career 2 years back after graduating with a PhD. Not sure if it's just me, or if the salaries in biotech/pharma/CRO keep getting worse? While I do enjoy my work, I'm really at a loss for how to prepare for buying a home as a single person in San Diego with the salary they offer in biotech? Does anyone here work in biotech and managed to buy a home on their own? I'd love to get tips from y'all
P.S. this is not a rant. I'm genuinely lost.

I’m an SE who works 2 AE’s, and from looking at the market am on the bottom end of the pay scale. The company I work for has many different products/services (80+), so they wanted SEs to take on a local “SME” role in a specific area, to support other members of the team.

This role has ramped up quite a bit recently, and people have been coming to me for help with their deals (overviews, demos, POCs) which is increasing my workload.
